My memories are somewhat vague about that night...my most vivid is that my old girlfriend had taken up with another guy and was out in the audience..we also had trouble hearing on stage that night so we were a little out of sync...I do remember it was firkin' freezing that night so getting back and forth by taxi was brutal....also, that ws the first time Kiss was on our bill (opening act)...I didn't think anything of it...

And 40 years ago Nite Bob let me borrow his 1963 Firebird to play at the Academy of Music Show that night on a couple of tunes…it was a bitch to play (compared to my Les Paul), but it looked really cool and sounded great...

40 years ago I was standing on the stage of the Academy of Music holding a 1963 Firebird testing The Stooges SUNN backline....

I was the Stooges road manager at the time. Epic night. KISS added at the last minute. Ron had a collection of WWII paraphernalia and wore a SS uniform. When the Stooges hit the stage playing, Ron gave an introduction and happy new year message in German - which I got some grief for from our booking agent in LA. Pop got a few cuts from some broken footlights.

NEW!
